Surfboarding on a cruise ship? You better believe it

Prepare to be wowed by Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, Anthem of the Seas. This luxurious vessel is unlike any you’ve ever stepped foot on (or that I had certainly ever experienced). The ship has 18 decks, a skydiving simulator, a robotic bartender, an arm that extends into the sky, a circus school, roller rink, and a 40-foot-long surf simulator. Yes, you can actually surf onboard!

FlowRider is the surf simulator on board and it even has stadium seating with prime wipeout views. (Yes, I saw some doozies, as our embedded video shows.)

The water of the onboard FlowRider gushes out at around 35 – 40mph, but don’t be put off if you’re not a surfing pro. This surfing simulator was built for young and old alike. Plus, Royal Caribbean staff are always on hand to help beginners out in their surfing adventures.

The FlowRider supports two surfing styles: stand up traditional surfing and boogie boarding. Oh, and guests can experience the FlowRider surfing experience as many times as they like or you can organise a private surfing class to hit your destination like a pro.
