This dog is living like Harry Potter with his own room under the stairs

The Dog Who Lived. In Chesterfield, Missouri, one dog is finding out how it feels like to be Harry Potter – or at least how it feels like to sleep in his bedroom.

About a month ago, dog lover and all-around handy guy Michael Beezy Barber decided to turn the dark and dusty space under his staircase into a swanky bedroom for his dog, Kenji.

In a series of photos on his Facebook page, Barber shows how he transformed the room step-by-step, first cleaning out the dust and cob webs, then eventually putting in tiles and a door. He even put in LED lights, a book shelf (which he eventually turned into a toy shelf because dogs can’t read), a cooling vent, and a surveillance camera!

‘Those of you who find it better to crate/kennel your dogs when you’re gone might find this an attractive alternative than having a big plastic or metal crate sitting in your living room’, Barber says.

‘It’s big enough for him to move around and play a little bit, but compact enough so he doesn’t want to use the bathroom in that space!’ he adds. You can see more of Baber’s DIY photos here.
