Would you wear such atrocities if you were offered US$250,000?

Yes, cackle away when you see celebs dressed in outfits that make you go ‘Over my dead body!’ But it seems they may be having the last laugh. We already know those far-out designs in any collection generate online clicks and immense publicity, which in turn lead to brisk sales in the fashion brand’s more affordable perfumes and lipsticks.

And having a famous personality wearing them on Instagram just makes the world spin around that much faster.

But why would any A-lister want to look ridiculous? To sweeten the designer-celeb collaboration, Hollywood stylist Jessica Paster has recently revealed that celebs are paid up to $250,000 to wear these designs on the red carpet each time. And if they play their cards right, multi-million campaign endorsements from the same labels await. The stylists are in the game too. By persuading their famous clientele to pick certain designers, they can earn up to US$50,000. ‘It’s all wrapped up in money,’ says stylist Brandon Maxwell. ‘It’s Hollywood, we’re not at church’.
