There’s an Airbnb-type service for pets in Australia!

We’ve got Airbnb for humans so why not an Airbnb-inspired service for pets? Well, now there is! It’s called Mad Paws and it’s an Australian first.

Mad Paws is not just an online pet sitting service; it’s a service that matches your pet with a pet sitter anywhere in Australia. Pet owners get to select a sitter based on unique profiles, qualifications and characteristics, which can be a lot cheaper than local kennels.

The service is the brainchild of Sydney-based entrepreneur Alexis Soulopoulos. The idea for Mad Paws came to him while he was pet sitting for a friend (who couldn’t find a place for his golden retriever, Honey, while he travelled).

‘The last thing he wanted to do was leave Honey locked up in a kennel, which can often be a distressing experience for pets’, Alexis says. ‘I offered to look after Honey and it turned into an incredibly rewarding experience for me. Not only was I helping out a friend, but I had such a great time walking, feeding and getting to know my newest canine companion’.

Right now, Mad Paws has about 3,000 pet sitters throughout Australia, with most sitters welcoming dogs, though cats and guinea pigs are also welcomed by some!

This sounds like something I’d love to do – not only do I get to play with a cute pet but I get paid for doing it at the same time! If you’re into this as much as I am, take a look at Mad Paws here, and sign up to be a sitter right here.
