Cute photos of underwater babies encourage parents to teach their kids how to swim

Previously, photographer Seth Casteel made our hearts a flutter with adorable photos of puppies swimming underwater. Now he’s back with a new series that’s got something cuter: babies!

In ‘Underwater Babies’, Seth collaborated with a Dallas-based swimming school to photograph more than 750 babies diving underwater, many of them for the first time. Alongside their instructors and parents, the babies showed what it takes to emerge safely from the water after taking a plunge. The photos, which are now published in a book, hopes to encourage parents to teach their kids how to swim.

‘Drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death of children under the age of five in the United States’, explained Casteel. ‘Infant swimming lessons can help to reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%. By creating this book, I hope to encourage and inspire parents to consider swim lessons for their children, with the ultimate goal of preventing tragedies’.
