Perfect for both leisure travelers and the corporate set, The Blackman hotel is unique in its artistry and design. Inspired by seminal Australian artist Charles Blackman, The Blackman is an imaginative, contemporary five star boutique hotel. It’s one of the best stays in Melbourne and is certainly amongst the most unique.
With more than 200 rooms equipped with balconies and ranked in Melbourne’s top 10 hotels according to Trip Advisor, this is a truly memorable hotel. My suite was generously large, with a balcony looking over the parks of Melbourne. The cooking facilities make it perfect for a longer stays in this iconic city.
The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the accessories of high quality. But it’s the design which stands The Blackman out from the pack. Dripping with colour, style and art, your senses tingle when staying within its confines.
In a recent partnership, on arrival at my room I was welcomed with a beautiful Mr Shirts shirt. The partnerships is designed for the on-the-go savvy traveller. Using luxury 2-ply fabrics, superfine cotton, mother-of-pearl buttons and 18 stitches per inch, my Mr Shirts shirt was a joy to wear at the conference I was at the next day.
To complete the experience, The Blackman has two of Melbourne’s better dining establishments within its confine: Depot de Pain and Classico. My breakfast from Depot de Pain was simple yet memorable.
Charles Blackman, born in Sydney in 1926, was known for his illustrations and paintings. Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice In Wonderland, he created entire series surrounding the book’s themes. His art probed into the complex world of human relationships.
This idea of dreams mixed with reality has been transformed within the inspiring interior of this iconic Melbourne hotel.
The Blackman hotel is a hotel with few peers.
