Amazing modular furniture made from wood and molten metal

These incredible fusions of aluminium and wood are the work of Israeli artist Hilla Shamia. The one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture are created by pouring molten aluminum over wooden logs, allowing the liquid metal to seep into every crack.

The wood and aluminium blend together seamlessly and the edges of the log char as they come into contact with the super-heated metal. The result is a earthy colour spectrum ranging from charcoal black to light reds and browns throughout the wooden part of the table or stool.

Each log has a different layout of cracks, seams and holes so each piece of furniture displays a different pattern of wood against metal.
