It’s hard to believe, but Houston-based creative Anat Ronen is a self-taught artist and up until five years ago, was working in admin fields. It took a leap of faith for her to quit her day job and enter into the art field full-time. And I personally think she made the right decision! Ronen now makes a living by commissioned murals. So far she’s been able to paint walls and public spaces in Houston, Texas, as well as Sarasota, Florida.

One of Anat Ronen’s most popular pieces has been her mural of Malala Yousafzai, the young Taliban-attack survivor. Ronen took the iconic American Rosie the Riveter poster and changed it to a painting of Yousafzai which created a bold statement of freedom and liberty. As well as painting onto walls, Ronen has also taken her talent to the streets, quite literally, with a series of footpath street art depicting famous artists, movie stars, cuddly animals, and even superheroes.
