Yes, this really is a taxidermy chicken lamp

I must say, this lamp concept is quite eggstreme. Artist Sebastian Errazuriz, who is known for eccentric but functional design pieces such as the ‘Duck Lamp’, has created another item that will surely ruffle a few feathers. Introducing the ‘Chicken Lamp’, a functional sculpture that uses a taxidermy chicken as a light source.

The chicken, who died from old age, is given new life and a new purpose through reinvention. It stands on its own two feet – with the help of a plexiglass bottom – and illuminates the darkness with its light bulb for a head. ‘Chicken Lamp’ shows us that with correct design thinking, even discarded and forgotten materials (or organisms) can still be used for artistic and functional purposes.
