Now THIS is a selfie! Photographer Alex Chacon traveled 36 countries in 600 days and took this amazing and jealousy inducing 360 panorama selfie along the way. In this exclusive interview, he talks more about his epic journey and gives his best advice to those who want to follow in his footsteps – or bike tracks, rather. [you can read our original post about him here.]

Three years ago, you sold all your belongings to embark on this journey. What was the feeling back then, entering a new and unexplored phase in your life? Tell us what was going through your mind at that time.
The feeling was excitement not knowing what was going to happen, but very happy knowing that I was doing what I’ve always dreamed of doing.

A lot of us want to know, how were you able to fund the trip? Was it solely on the money you saved after selling all your possessions?
I sold everything I had after graduating college with no debt, including my car, TV, clothes, and gaming console. I would camp everywhere, eat canned food, and only spend money on essentials. I would couchsurf all around the world and people would meet me and give me food, or a place to stay at night.

What are some of the memorable experiences of this epic adventure, so far?
Northern Lights in Alaska, Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolivia, Iguazu Falls in Brazil, Himalayas and driving to Leh from Manali.

Out of the 36 countries you’ve visited, what would you say is your favorite, and why? And what country are you most excited to visit in the future?
I love them all in different ways!

Do you have any advice for all those aspiring world travelers out there?
Follow your passion and your dreams will come true.
