Contemporary art mixes with incredible sound in Mille Plateaux

When you combine cover art from controversial painter Steven Johnson Leyba and the sounds of Georgio “The Dove Valentino”, you’re bound to have an album that’s a cut above the rest. Valentino operates in the space between several forms (song-and-dance, performance art, belles lettres and institutional critique) and several genres (torch song, soundtrack, Kraut-rock, country-and-western, surf, lo-fi and high-concept avant-garde). The latest album, Mille Plateaux, is no different, with experimental melodies and mind-blowing instrumentals.

Check out the incredible cover art below, too. Four different original portraits that keep the mind guessing.
