Big eyes with excessive mascara, stick-thin limbs, pointy fingers, oversized heads, and a brooding background. Very ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’. Now apply that style to something very cute and whimsical like Disney’s ‘Frozen, and you’ve got something that’s beautifully dark.

Japanese artist Yoko did just that by illustrating some of our favourite Frozen characters in the style of Tim Burton. Check out the images below to see the darker versions of Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Sven, Kristoff, and Hans.

UPDATE: Here’s an excerpt from our exclusive interview with the budding artist from Japan!

Was it hard trying to draw in the style of Tim Burton?

It was not hard. It’s fun being able to draw!

How long did it take you to finish the ‘Frozen – Tim Burton Style’ drawings?

It took me 9 hours to finish this drawing!

You said drawing pictures is your hobby. Have you ever thought about pursuing drawing as a career?

I’ve just begun to draw as an illustrator. Recently, I’ve been working on some illustrations for a game.
