Oh, this is the purrrfect coffee shop for cat lovers in America! Cat Café is a pop-up coffee shop that opened up just recently in New York. What makes this place so different is that it’s the first cat-themed café in the US, allowing its customers to mingle with cats as they enjoy their cup of coffee.

In other cat cafes in London and Japan, visitors pay an entrance fee or an hourly fee to spend time with the cats. This one, however, is absolutely free!

The concept was brought to life by Purina One and North Shore Animal League, the largest no-kill shelter in the country. They see this venture as a chance to, not only give people their caffeine and feline fix, but also encourage pet adoptions. In fact, people who accidentally fall in love with one of the café’s sixteen cats could opt to adopt them.

The pop-up café closed its doors on April 27 as part of its limited run, but KitTea in San Francisco will soon become the country’s full-time cat café.
