Rock it: rocking furniture pieces commissioned by Claudia Pignatale

If you’re going to commission something, you better make sure it’s something really cool. And Claudia Pignatale, founder and artistic director of Secondome Gallery did just this. These awesome and highly sophisticated see-saws were designed by Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai, with the intent to see that children’s play can be ‘transformed into refined objects for adults with meaning and intent’.

The designers explain that by combining skillful craftsmanship, ‘the result, ironically enough to be playful, is the encounter between steel — the material emblematic of solidity — and one of the most beloved childhood icons. We can play ‘cowboy’ as suggested by the material used for saddles, and so smile and be light’.
