3D on the rocks: intricate ice cubes sculptures

Would you like your whiskey served ‘neat’ or on the Statue of Liberty? ‘3D on the Rocks’ is the latest ad campaign from liquor company Suntory, in which they used a high precision carving machine to create intricate ice cube sculptures to go along with that glass of whiskey. Talk about art on art!

In collaboration with ad agency, TBWA\Hakuhodo, the company used a 3D mill to carve works of art out of ice, effectively creating the world’s first 3D milled ice cubes. Some of the designs include: a great white shark, an astronaut, the Statue of Liberty, and Michelangelo’s ‘David’. The designs were sourced from the public, and those lucky enough to have had their ideas chosen were invited to a secret bar in Tokyo, where they enjoyed a glass of Suntory.
