While rabbit pizza is itself enough to create a stir, New Zealand-based pizza restaurant ‘Hell Pizza’ went the extra mile and made this hare-raising billboard made from hundreds of rabbits. The billboard was put up to promote the restaurant’s Easter-themed dish, the Rabbit Pizza. It reads: ‘Rabbit Pizza. Made from real rabbit. Like this billboard’.

The company says on its Facebook page: ‘As well as being a delicious meat, and even quite cute, rabbits are unfortunately also a noted pest that is damaging to the New Zealand environment, particularly in the South Island’.

‘For those who are concerned, we sourced these rabbit skins via a professional animal tanning company, who in turn sourced them from local meat processing companies where the skins are a regular by-product’.

While rabbit meat is a great alternative to chicken, beef, and pork, many are still hesitant to try it out because, you know, they’re just too dang cute to serve on a platter. In an interview with Mirror, Hell Pizza boss Ben Cumming said:

‘Rabbit is one of the leanest, healthiest meats available. It has a beautiful, subtle flavour and is a great match for the other ingredients on the pizza. You get chunks of the smoky rabbit flavour complemented by sweet and slightly spicy beetroot and horopito relish, then bursts of cream cheese and toasted pine nuts which linger on the taste buds afterwards. We think it’s going to go down really well’.
