‘Let’s save the world, but first, let me take a #selfie’. A Marvel selfie, that is. Brazilian designer and pop culture aficionado Butcher Billy illustrates our favourite superheroes all taking self-portraits in his series ‘Marvel #Selfies: Avengers Project’.

Lamenting on how the phenomenon of taking self-portraits on smartphones has, in his own words, ‘changed aspects of social interaction, body language, self-awareness, privacy, and humor’, he imagines iconic figures, like Captain America and Iron Man, joining in on the craze. ‘It’s become a new visual genre—a type of self-portraiture formally distinct from all others in history. Like it or not, those damn selfies have become some kind of a big deal for pop culture, and pop art’, he adds.

Aside from ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ all holding iPhones, we also get a bonus round, wherein Spider-Man (who is also an Avenger in the comic books) takes his own selfie – spidey style!
