Behold, Asgard! Oh wait, it’s actually Chicago! While en route to Chicago O’Hare International Airport amateur photographer Mark Hersch snapped this amazing photo of the city’s skyline silhouette reflected on the waters of Lake Michigan. Taken at the perfect moment, Chicago looks like an upside-down city in the sky, with God’s rays of light shining down on it. Hersch says he took the photo using only an iPhone and with no digital manipulation whatsoever.

‘I was flying home to Chicago from a business trip recently. It was a cloudy day, late in the afternoon. We were flying eastbound, made a pass by O’Hare International Airport, then made a sweeping 180-degree left turn over Lake Michigan for our final westward approach into the airport’, he tells Daily Mail. ‘I looked down and through a narrow break in the clouds, I saw the shadow of the Chicago skyline projecting onto the lake. Oddly enough, I am a very frequent flyer and almost always sit in an aisle set, but on this flight there were only window seats available’.
