What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music

‘What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music’ is a documentary that explores the different facets, challenges, trials, and rewards of a life in pursuit of music. It even goes as far as to delve deep into the creative minds and personal lives of the artists, just to get a glimpse of what really happens behind the music. Filmed at the Red Bull Music Academy in New York by award-winning director and producer Ralf Schmerberg, it features the people and events that shaped last year’s edition.

It features interviews and performances from artists and musicians like, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Erykah Badu, Rakim, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Richie Hawtin, Brian Eno, and James Murphy.

The film celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Red Bull Music Academy, a series of workshops and festivals that hop from city to city every year, looking to give musicians from all corners of the globe a chance to create a difference.
