David Kracov’s works — he sculpts, paints and animates — commonly include butterflies. To him, the winged insect symbolizes the fragility and value of a child’s life, so it is no surprise his butterfly-propelled sculptures are especially inspiring. One such work, Reflections, was created in memory of the lives lost in the 9/11 tragedy and shows his signature butterflies rising up from the New York skyline where the Twin Towers once stood.
