Iraqi Kurdish artist, filmmaker and photographer Jamal Penjweny has created a series of photos he’s named I Wish. This poignant series details the childhood wishes and dreams of people as they stand in their current surroundings. Penjweny says of this series: ‘The man in the mountains wanted to become a champion swimmer but he was born in a place with no swimming pools, the man with the Bruce Lee photo took karate lessons and then became a Mullah, the man with the Ferrari photo always wanted to be a racecar driver – now he has a donkey and sells gasoline’.

A sobering but also extraordinary series you’ve gotta see, if only for the sentimentality these photos encourage within you.
