Spanish born artist Yago Hortal has created a series of paintings that look like they’re coming straight off the canvas. ‘Using thick layers of acrylic, he stacks and smears vibrant swaths of paint, the layers of paint increasing and gaining depth, making these abstract pieces’. We covered his work back in 2011, though this series of paintings was created in 2012, with Hortal’s earlier work just as bright and colorful, but nothing quite like this. Seeing these makes you almost want to reach out and touch the canvas.
