Letters of Note published its 15 best letters of the year recently, and if you’re yearning for the days of mailed letters and romanticizing about writing sweet nothings to your loved one on paper, this list will keep you entertained. With over 1,000 fascinating letters in total, Letters of Note seeks to share and archive some of history’s most treasured correspondence.

The most popular letter of the year (number of times its been visited) is Albert Camus’ letter to his old teacher after winning the Nobel Prize. A letter of advice from Kurt Vonnegut and a letter from Henry Miller to Anais Nin rank number two and number six respectively. If you read through the list of letters you’ll also find some doozies, such as Richard Burton’s letter to Liz Taylor after she decided to end their relationship, as well as a lover letter addressed to Virginia Woolf from Vita Sackville-West.
