Researchers at the Oregon Health & Science University recently came to the conclusion that those who partook in alcohol enjoyed better health compared to those who did not drink at all. For the study, a group of monkeys with immune systems similar to humans were vaccinated against smallpox and were observed over a 14-month period.
They were then split into two groups: one had access to 4 percent ethanol, while the other group had access to just sugar water. The monkeys that drank a moderate amount of alcohol showed the best response to the vaccine, leading the team to conclude that moderate drinking was good for the immune system. Now that’s news worth drinking to.
