Pastafarians unite! NY politician gets sworn into office wearing a colander

If you haven’t heard about the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster by now, chances are you will. This dogma-rejecting ‘religion’ has become a huge hit for people who aren’t into traditional religion, yet want something just as ludicrous to believe in. Anyway, this week saw the Spaghetti Monster get a little more attention than usual, when Christopher Schaeffer, a minister in the Pastafarian faith, wore a colander while taking the oath of office to join the Pomfret Town Board.

Schaeffer’s pic is about to go viral. I mean, we’ve seen politicians sworn into office wearing questionable attire, but a colander really takes the…er, cake.
