Microsoft’s ad campaign for The Hobbit allows viewers to download a 3D blueprint

Everyone is excited about The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hitting theaters … even Microsoft. In celebration of the film’s release, Microsoft has launched a series of unique ad campaigns that will appear on Windows 8 apps, MSN, and Xbox 360. The ads have all the standard content you’d expect, but in addition, the ad will prompt viewers to download 3D-printing blueprints for the Key of Erebor, an item featured in The Hobbit trilogy. Although only a few fans will be able to take advantage of the 3D printed blueprint, this ad campaign is definitely an innovative concept.
