Gowns made out of leaves by Tang Chiew Ling

Kuala Lumpur-based artist Tang Chiew Ling created a series of gowns that you could consider as ‘earth friendly’. Fashion in Leaf is her series of drawings that involves leaves as gowns of elegant ladies in ink.

Why mix leaves with fashion? Well, for one thing, Ling is into art direction, fashion, and illustration, so when all those passions blended together, she asked herself one day how fashion and leaf art can mix. Next thing she knew, she was looking for beautiful leaves in a garden to use as gowns. Ling says: ‘I was very surprised to get those such beautiful leaves in a garden. I never thought the leaves can be so beautiful, some of them are full of structures, patterns and lines on it, different colours in a leaf, even is withered leaves. So, I applied them into different types of dresses according to the different types of leaves’.
