Take that, America! Australia has officially won back the championship belt Guinness World Record for most Christmas lights in a residential property with 502,165 bulbs. All the credit goes to the Richards family in Canberra for reclaiming the throne from a family in LaGrangeville, New York.

They previously held the record in 2001 with 331,038 bulbs, but were beaten by the New York family last year with 346,283 bulbs. David, husband of Jean and dad of Aidan, Caitlin, and Madelyn, said their home is currently surrounded by more than 50 kilometers of wire, and is open for public viewing from the weekend to raise money for charity.

And how much in electricity bills would a world-record holding household like this would have? Approximately $2,300 per month. But luckily, a local power company was kind enough to sponsor them.
