Lucid Stead: a mirage cabin made of mirrors

Designed by Phillip K. Smith III, this cabin reflects its desert surrounding, creating a mirage effect. Smith’s Lucid Stead was created using an aging homestead and some cleverly placed mirrors. The original structure feels at home in the harsh environment yet the mirror additions give it a spectral quality. It seems to float in the landscape, fading in and out with the change in sunlight. The overall effect is absolutely stunning.
