Where’s Waldo? He’s right here, here and here

Slate wants you to be the hero of Where’s Waldo every time you open the book! Ben Blatt set out to prove that you (kinda, sorta) predict where Waldo is by running through each Waldo book and recording where that perpetual hide-and-seeker was placed (using a tape measure).

Using this information, and realizing Waldo could not be placed where the 15-square-inch postcard sits on each page, Blatt came up with a great strategy: look for Waldo in one of two, 1.5-inch tall bands ‘which have baselines at three and seven inches from the bottom of the page’. Well, that just took all the fun out of finding Waldo!
