Now you can get your gondola on with Google Street View

Google announced on their official blog last week that Venice, ‘undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man,’ would be added to their list of cities accessible by Street View Trekker technology. About 265 miles was captured on foot and a further 114 miles by boat, with the Devil’s Bridge in Torcello Island, the Synagogue of the first Jewish Ghetto, and even the place where typographer Manutius created the Italics font, all on show.

Google has even released behind the scenes footage on how they actually captured the images and it’s quite interesting to watch. Oh, to live the life of a Google Street View Team Member…
