Initial reaction after seeing this video: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!. Steve McGuigan and Duncan Frazier of Brooklyn-based BitBanger Labs have designed something like the Excalibur of all light painting gadget. This gadget is called Pixelstick and it adds photoreal images, abstract designs, and animation to all your exposure photos and timelapse. It reads images in Photoshop and displays them one line at a time through 198 full-color RGB LEDs. It also has capabilities for animation that we’ve never ever seen before.

If you help fund it on Kickstarter, here’s the bag of goodies you’ll get: LED PCBs (198 LEDs total), two 3’ aluminum extrusion with connecting bracket & diffusion lens, handle wih foam grip and rotating sleeve, controller box with cables and clips, a battery holder, and the carry bag.
