Rare mythical monsters from all corners of the globe

Halloween may have come and gone but that doesn’t mean the kids are safe from nighttime terrors. Especially when these “wickedly spooky” illustrations are created to put a face to some rare legendary creatures. From North America to Japan, the team at Flikli researched some of the more rare legendary creatures and beasts to haunt us while lying in bed.

Here’s just a rundown of a few to tell the kids about (or not!):

Jenny Greenteeth: a river hag that pulls children or the elderly into the water and drowns them. Oh yeah, and she’s green-skinned with sharp teeth.

Manticore: this scary fella is a man-eater and has the body of a red lion, a human head with three rows of teeth and a “trumpet-like voice.”

Haniver: the carcass of a rat or snake, dried and manipulated by the medieval sailors of Antwerp to produce a “grotesque preserved specimen.”
