The work of JJ Cromer is obsessive, sincere and beautiful. The self-taught artist grew up in Appalachia and now lives on a farm in the mountains of Virginia where he and his wife raise ducks and geese, grow fruit trees and maintain an apiary. There’s evidence of this environment in the highly stylized visual language he speaks so fluently.
