Arr, an MRI pirate ship machine just for the kids

Doug Dietz of GE Healthcare wanted to help make medical procedures less terrifying for children, so he remade an MRI suite of a children’s hospital at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center into a pirate-themed adventure land. He did this by sticking decals on the machine and all the surfaces of the room, and even incorporated a script weaving the actual procedure for machine operators to get patients immersed in the fantastical experience. If all MRI suites were as fun, we’d want to get scanned all the time.
