San Diego may still hold the mantle for the biggest Comic Con in the US, but with attendance breaking 100k yet again at Manhattan’s Javits Center last weekend, New York is catching up faster than a speeding bullet. The four-day New York Comic Con ran from October 9-12, featuring premieres, panels, celebrity appearances, surprises, and, of course, lots and lots of people in (often quite elaborate) costumes.

We were there to witness all the magic and mayhem, and in the process, we captured images of some of the craziest things to be found amidst the masses.

While our personal highlight had to be the man who proposed to his girlfriend in front of Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny at the X-Files reunion panel on Sunday (check them out onstage below), we were also huge fans of the guy who came dressed as Sharknado, the bizarre pairing of Professor Chaos and Krang, and the saddest Dalek we’ve ever seen (who actually had to be pushed around to move).

Check out the images below for more highlights, including the beer brewed especially for the convention, a fantastic Spaceballs tribute, and a glimpse at what the coatcheck looks like when everyone needs to find a place to keep their “regular” clothes. And don’t forget, folks, the family that cosplays together, stays together.
