Steampunk is a popular sub-genre of science fiction where objects and places are characterized by steam-powered, iron-clad machinery. The aesthetics and design of this genre is simply amazing, such that you’d wish there was a steampunk-themed coffee shop where you can sit down, relax, and have a sip of steam-powered coffee and cake. Truth Coffee Shop in Cape Town, South Africa has been designed to be exactly like that.

Created by Heldane Martin, he was inspired by the aesthetics of espresso machines and coffee roasters to be similar to those of the romantic Victorian futuristic fantasy style.

Truth turned their turn-of-the-century HQ and warehouse into something that blends old and new to create a space that every coffee shop goer/secret steampunk admirer desires. The shop has remnants of its old self with its original bare stone and brick walls, and cast iron pillars.

They also filled it with saw-blade tables, ornate coffee making equipment, vintage typewriters, industrial-looking wall decors, and even copper piping.
