Pierdom: photos of old British pleasure piers

Pleasure Piers are crumbling reminders of ancient tourism in Britain. Before average folk could take long holidays to scenic resorts, small businesses would band together to create these tiny resorts on a pier. Anyone could walk the area and take a mini vacation.

Thanks to the efforts of Simon Croberts, all 58 surviving pleasure piers in Britain have been preserved in photographs with his series Pierdom.
