6 year old kids duke it out in Bangkok Muay Thai contest

Elbows, knees, fists—almost anything is a go in the sport of Muay Thai where kids as young as six are in the ring. Documented by photographer Sandra Hoyn, this photo series titled Fighting Kids shows the full-contact sport in action like never before.

Hoyn was able to spend four weeks accompanying the children at home, during training and even during competitions to capture some of these shots back in 2011. “The most shocking thing for me,” says Sandra Hoyn, “was to see the pressure on these children. They are the instrument for the parents to earn money, and they have to win the fight because the parents bet a lot of money on them. A lot of people lose all their money in one night.”
