Smart toasters that leave or stay at homes based on ‘product satisfaction’

Simone Rebaudengo and Haque design+research’s Addicted Products, which recently had a notable mention in the Speculative category at the Core77 2013 Design Awards, has an interesting premise as a ‘real, fictional service’ that explores the relationship between connected products.

The project kicked off with a network of owner-less toasters that are hosted by people who apply for them, and based on the product’s satisfaction with their hosts, the toaster may try to transport itself to an alternative host that makes more toast. Wish this was true of all the clutter we owned at home.
