The Science Magazine journal recently published a study that shows that reading literary fiction temporarily improves theory of mind — which essentially is the ability to attribute mental states to others and understand that others have different mental states from the self. That’s it, lit fic is good for you. Who would have thought that science experiments would one day tell us that literature is good for us?
