A public poll about animals and pets ran in June this year on 603 Americans, and now we are staring at this startling finding: asked to pick which animal they would like for an exotic pet, 18% went for a dinosaur.

The extinct beast, however, found itself no match for at least two of its living counterparts in the animal kingdom: tigers and giraffes garnered 26% and 20% of the vote respectively. Also coveted were elephants (16%), polar bears (14%) and alligators (6%). We’re still hung up on the 18% dino crowd though.
