New film explores UK’s Northern Soul scene

I just got done watching this poignant and beautifully made documentary about the UK’s 1970s Northern Soul scene – how all nighters at Wigan’s soul clubs bridged a divide between white working class Britain and black America, and became a central focus of life for thousands of disaffected British youths. The programme, presented by journalist and long-time Northern Soul aficionado Paul Mason, is worth watching for the soundtrack alone, but the archive footage is wonderfully nostalgic.
