Frighteningly dystopian urban spaces in China that have been abandoned

Looking at these pictures of failed urban planning in China — including deserted cities in Inner Mongolia and Tianjin that could not attract residents, a sprawling shopping mall in Guangdong lacking in shop tenants, and an unfinished amusement park outside of Beijing that never opened — we are reminded of just how much unexplored terrain there is in China. It all looks very dystopian indeed.
