Samoa Air start charging passengers for excess body weight

Gained a little weight on your last holiday? Well, it might cost more to fly home now. That’s if you’re flying home to Samoa. Not only does every kilo count when you weigh your bags for a flight, but now every kilo of your own weight will be counted too. Samoa Air has thrown down the gauntlet with their new statement, ‘A kilo is a kilo is a kilo!’.

If you’re overweight, you will be assigned to a special couch seat that costs a bit extra. And as of 2007, it is estimated that 80% of Samoans are overweight. I suppose the rising price is good motivation to lose a few.
