The Innovation of Loneliness: animation by Shimi Cohen

‘Loneliness has become the most common ailment of the modern world’. This hauntingly accurate statement gives us a new perspective on how social media really affects our lives. In a society where the illusion of individuality is prized, and a person’s status is measured by career success and monetary gain, it’s not surprising that social media has become a platform for broadcasting personal achievements.

This eye-opening animation by Shimi Cohen proves how social media isn’t actually bringing people closer together, rather, it is causing and increased rate of loneliness by providing a false sense of connection. Cohen’s minimalistic animation brilliantly illustrates his narrative, and his concise message will make you think twice about that next tweet or Facebook post.
