Runaway bride-to-be? Try this wedding gown that dissolves in water

So the fashion and engineering students of Sheffield Hallam University recently designed a wedding gown that dissolves in water to become multiple fashion pieces. What is this voodoo?

Well, polyvinyl alcohol, a sort of environmentally-friendly polymer, that’s what. Each layer of the dress dissolves to reveal a fashion piece. If you’ve got doubts about marrying anyone, this sounds like a quick get-out plan. It’s at least a classy upgrade from that classic ‘My dog ate my homework’ (or in this case, dress) excuse.
