Gumbo Kitchen: New Orleans-style eats in Melbourne

While I was away at the music festival, Splendour in the Grass, I came across one of the finest food trucks that Australia has to offer – Gumbo Kitchen. Typically based in Melbourne, the truck serves up the tastiest New Orleans-style foods at various locations around Melbourne.

Ordering up a big bowl of Cajun chicken and Andouille sausage gumbo, and receiving some free crusty bread, I was pretty chuffed with how far my $10 had stretched. The second time I decided to eat at the truck because it had the longest line and I wanted to try some “Po’ Boy” Sliders.

Doing what any food crazed festival goer would do, I ordered up a massive meal deal, which included a fried chicken slider, a pulled pork slider AND a mountain of fries. There were pickles, slaw, ketchup, BBQ sauce and meaty goodness with every bite. I wonder if they’ll drive up to Newcastle, where I live, to fix me some lunch?
