The Chinese found a way to grow teeth from human pee

Hmm, what’s this? A bunch of Chinese scientists from Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health have actually regenerated teeth successfully using stem cells from human pee, which spells very real implications for teeth replacement options. Gross factor aside, there’s another catch: these grown teeth aren’t as hard as natural teeth. Still, it’s early days.

As University College London stem cell scientist Prof Chris Mason warns, pee is a terrible source for stem cells and poses a high risk of contamination. Still, you’ve got to applaud the Chinese for the sheer audacity of their vision.
