As a photographer, I was looking for something new and exciting to shoot. I discovered a very interesting and historical dance called Belly Dancing, which is a translation of the French term ‘danse du ventre’. Belly dancing is primarily a torso-driven dance, with an emphasis on articulations of the hips while the name itself is something of a misnomer, as every part of the body is involved. The dancers movements are sensuous, hypnotic and flowing.

The magnificent fluidity in the movements by premier dancer Alannah Mason can be seen here.
